  • If The Truth Hurts You, No Problem. Just Change It.

Disclaimer: I am not an ordained or self-proclaimed preacher. I'm just a very insightful young lady who God enlightens to write on certain topics. I don't know everything. Most people know virtually nothing compared to my God. The things I write about are things I have read up a lot on, experienced, and heard about. I feel that they are the truth, and if you feel otherwise, disagree respectfully because I am only 23, and I don't know everything I need to know about religion, but I never intentionally type false things and lies. I really try to help people out seriously. If you want to act up and get personally offended, refer to my note, "I Don't Irritate You, I Reveal the Irritations That Are Already There."

    II Timothy 4:3-4

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

In the New Testament of the Holy Bible, there are many verses and prophecies about how in the end times, people will have itching ears for what they want to hear. I'll admit that I almost became victim to looking for the truth in all the wrong places. If you are accustomed to my writings, I like to use extended metaphors because they very effectively get the point across when people don't want the truth. So I'll begin like this and expound later.

    2 John 1:7

"For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist."

Imagine a young lady is dating a young man. This young lady keeps a diary under her bunk bed. Inside are many untold secrets and concealed feelings that she has about school, her parents, and more than anything, her boyfriend. While she is in the shower, he decides to take a peek into her journal. Some of the stuff he likes. Like the part about him being a great boyfriend and being very smart and athletic. But as he keeps reading, he reads some things he's not so pleased with. Like the part that says, "Dear Diary, I went on a date with Johnathan today. He's really a sweet guy, but sometimes I wonder if I can see myself with him long-term. He's smart, a great athlete, but he's dull. I mean, I find myself wanting to guzzle a Red Bull just talking with him. He is BORING! Only he could make a story about being robbed at gunpoint as boring as watching grass grow. Now his friend Brad is hot! He is cute, funny, and he's one of the coolest guys at the school. Maybe I should start dating him..."

    Titus 1:10

"For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers..."

In Miranda's head, this is her truth. This is how she feels. According to her, Johnathan is smart. He is athletic. He is sweet. But he is a total bore. Also, in her diary, in her book of her life, his best bud Brad happens to be a funny and popular stud! (I'm trying to use mainstream high school language here, so excuse the lame terminology.) So Johnathan is peeved. He's so upset! He searches her desk for the nearest pencil and begins erasing and changing the words around. Instead it now reads, "a great athlete...but he's so cute too!" He erases all the comments about Brad. He erases whatever offends him. When Miranda comes in the bedroom after showering and getting dressed, he's smiling from ear to ear because he knows that Miranda is crazy about him! He's satisfied now that the book has been edited. Now her view of him has changed. When she writes in her diary tonight, maybe she'll reread it and change her feelings about boring Johnathan and hot Brad because her diary will reveal to her otherwise. His plan was a success!

    2 Corinthians 4:2

"But we have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is laid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake."

Now if Brad is crazy about her (as many high school boys are about some girls) he has one of three options. He can conform to Miranda's likes in a boyfriend according to her book, he can leave and find a girl whose diary will appeal to him, or he can deceive himself into thinking his plan worked. His main objective is to win Miranda's total attention and heart. He wants access into her heart and life, but he doesn't want to do what it takes to get there.

    Romans 1:25-32

"Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator... for this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the naural use of the woman, burned in their lust toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient...Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which committ such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."

Likewise, with the bible. I heard that there is supposed to be a lesbian-friendly bible coming out I believe in February of next year. Instead of Adam and Eve, there's supposedly going to be an Adamia and Eve. I guess every male and female couple will be altered to female and female. Of course, this makes no sense in the great scheme of things because they didn't have artificial insemination at the time, and even if they did, who was the male sperm donor? So procreations stopped there I guess. Not to mention it's a total lie. Just silly. But they are serious as cancer about this book. If heterosexuals have a hard enough time with the Bible, what makes you think you can cheat? We can't just start making murderer-friendly bibles where Cain was the good son and Abel was the bad one, just because a murderer wants his choices justified and smiled upon. You can't alter history! You can't alter facts! You can't alter God's truth!

    2 Corinthians 11:13-14

"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."

Now does changing the words in Miranda's diary change the way she will feel about Johnathan? If anything, she's going to be so upset that he even went through her diary and erased her private memories and thoughts. She'll probably toss him to the side for Brad because Johnathan's a total psycho. Likewise with God. I don't believe He'll be pleased, and it won't change the way He feels about your life choices.

Another good example would be in a college scene. Your syllabus tells you that you have to turn in a paper on the the 13th of September. You do a little makeshift report the night before and turn it in expecting an A simply because you really, really want one. A few weeks later, you get your paper back. You are shocked! The professor even goes so far as to spell out the "F". He puts a big, fat, and red "Failure" on your page because he is so disgusted. You talk with him after class to see what went wrong. You had worked hard on this paper (all of five hours). You say, "What's up, prof? This ain't cool. I worked hard on this paper. You need to get that pen out and try again, cuz." Professor Schultz says, "The problem is that you wrote a paper full of lies and untruths! Nothing in this report is accurate or correct! You said slavery was abolished on February 31, 1993. You said George Washington Carver was the president who ended it. You said Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a devout Catholic who was fighting against Protestant beliefs! You said Whites were enslaved, and that Blacks were slavemasters. You said Native Americans discovered America on the Ninja, the Pinto, and the Santa Claus ships! This paper is totally unacceptable. So much so that I have posted your paper as a poor example for the rest of my teaching career here at the university." You tell him, "But Dr. Schultz, I don't like the way it feels having this Failure written on my paper. It just really sucks. It makes my stomach twist in knots whenever I look at it. Just go ahead and write an 'A'. Don't you love me? You say you're a Christian, right? I'm not perfect. You should forgive me. That's the kind of God you serve, don't you?" Dr. Schultz looks at you horrified and says, "I'm a loving Christian, but that doesn't mean you can change history, facts, and truth. Get real, Timothy. See you in class Wednesday."

You tell your parents and your fraternity brothers that Dr. Schultz is a total idiotic scumbag. Then you say, "That's why I hate all Christians. All Christians are bad people. If that's the kind of way their God teaches them to treat people, then I want no part of Him!" You then proceed to get a history book and begin to white out the parts of the book that made you look bad and stupid. It kind of hurt to hear Dr. Schultz say those things about your paper. So you make the book conform to your book report. You lean back in your chair and sigh with a smile spreading across your face. Now, Dr. Schultz will feel like the idiot! You have a book right here that now confirms and proves as truth everything that you wrote! You're sure to get an A now.

    James 1:22

"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."

Likewise with Christianity. There are many things I didn't like about what the bible said before I got saved (and even some when I got saved). I didn't like that I couldn't drink Vodka anymore, I didn't like that I couldn't curse people out who got on my nerves anymore, I didn't like that I had to pray for those who hurt me from now on until I died, I didn't like that I had to use my rent money to pay for tithes and offerings as long as I worked, and I certainly didn't like that I had to spread the gospel to people who would retaliate against me, call me judgmental, and persecute me for telling the truth. I didn't like it! But let me tell you what I DID NOT DO. I didn't get a pen, some White Out, a pencil, or a black marker and start marking these things out. I either had to receive the entire bible as it was (whether I understood or yet agreed with it all), or I had to pick out a religion or make up one that had a book that made me feel better about my wants, lusts, and bad choices. What sense does it make to go to a religion that makes you feel good about your wrongs? You might as well not have any religion!

    2 Thessalonians 2:7-12

"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

I'll reveal something about me to show how I also suffered with the bible. I started reading positive thinking books like The Secret that helped me to manipulate God into giving me the goodies. The Bible wanted me to wait for a husband, but fortunately, Rhonda Byrne said in The Secret that I won't have to wait as long if I really wished for it. I wanted to do this and that, and if the Bible didn't let me, I'd find something in one of these positive thinking books that would let me. I'd justify something I really didn't want to do in my psychology books so that I would have an excuse to dismiss the Bible. The psychology book said I was introverted, but the Bible said I was a new creature called to spread the gospel to the world. The psychology books said that many young people my age do this and do that, but the bible said to flee youthful lusts. Cosmopolitan and Redbook said that to keep a boyfriend, I had to learn all these Kama Sutra moves, but the bible said to remain pure until marriage. Yea, I was mad! I felt jilted and cheated. I was like, "I traded off all that to read a Bible and pray?" But it was the greatest trade-off I could have ever made. I might not have seen it then and not even all of the time now, but in the end when I get my reward, it'll be worth it.

    James 1:26-27

"If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."

I even started listening to certain services and televangelists on television and radio and in person. The speakers appealed to my flesh and soul, but my spirit did not agree. I liked the people that said I can manipulate God's formula for wealth by sending them some seeds. I liked the speakers who said that I could name and claim things for myself that were not necessarily in God's will for my life. I liked the speakers who left out the boring, hard to grasp verses of the bible, and would just let me dance and holler with no long-term benefits and no knowledge of the the bible I could use to fight demons. I went to churches that appealed to my body and soul.

I know a young man that my close friend is seeing that is a Budachristislamjew. He likes some parts of the bible, koran, torah, etc. He picks bits and pieces he likes from each religion because he doesn't want to be seen as out of order. So he just picks parts from the Old Testament he believes in, parts from the torah, parts from the koran, and parts from Buddhist, Tao, and Confucius teachings. I can't be part of a religion where I'm not totally sold. I can't risk my religion and eternity in the hereafter on doubts. He likes to do ectasy, and he's a vegetarian, so he "worships" according to his lusts and preferences. Imagine a marriage where your husband or wife were in covenant with you, and picked certain parts of the vows they chose to live by. "I'll stay with you through health, but sickness? Yea, right. As soon as you get a bad doctor's report, I'm out!" "Yea, I'll be there for richer, but poorer I don't do. I wish you would lose your job! Try me." "Til' death do us part? I ain't about to be with you for life. What if you get old and ugly and saggy?" "Be with just you and only you? I'm with you, but not just you. I like your brother as well." If you told your man or woman that up front, there'd be no wedding if he or she is in her right mind.

    2 Timothy 3:13

"But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived."

Likewise with Christianity, you can't pick bits and pieces. Now I agree that some of Paul's teachings are not very popular in American culture because they were more for his time and culture. Just as no one wore pants then and drank sodas, things were different at that time. People used to make their own butter and such, but now we can just go to the store. We're not sinful for being different, we're just in a different time. He said woman shouldn't be preachers, but I know many female preachers who are very anointed. The Old Testament is filled with laws and rules that are no longer valid because we are under a new contract. It's like if you were signed under a contract to do certain things, and then you had that contract torn to pieces and you signed a new contract. Jesus gave us a new contract. Women who are menstruating don't have to stay in isolation for a week. We don't offer animal sacrifices anymore. Many of the laws were fulfilled by Christ.

I know some people reading this are like, "Mistye, you can't pick and choose parts of the bible you want to obey." I'm more concerned with the laws that can lead one to hell if they are broken and not repented of and those laws that keep God happy. You won't go to hell for being on your period and not being in isolation, but you can go to hell for not repenting of murder. I won't go to hell for not paying my tithes and offerings (in animals or dollars), but I can go to hell for being unrepentant of sexual promiscuity. So worry about getting into heaven and being pleasing to God. It's a long story, and my note is already too long to elaborate, but I'm sure I'll write on this later. But living according to a long list of laws does not make you holy. For example, if you really want to speed and you only drive the speed limit when, if, or because you see a cop, you're like a Christian who only follows the "rules" because someone is watching. That means that inwardly you are sinning and want to sin, but because you see a "Christian Cop", you slow down and pretend you are all holified. True Christianity to me is about living right when no one is watching because you've had a heart change. (to be continued).

    Revelation 3:16

"So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."

So in summary, you can't change history, facts, and truth because it hurts your feelings, makes you look hypocritical or bad, and/or because it doesn't benefit you any. You have to either accept it or not. The Bible says that if you are lukewarm (fence-straddling) God will spit you out. It's as if you didn't even try a tid-bit. I'm still struggling on some things (like my sometimes bad attitude and smart-aleck mouth), but I know what the truth is. I know what I should and should not do. I may spend a few days trying to justify it with worldy and conventional wisdom, but in order to get to the destination at the end of The Good Book or to get certain blessings of God on this here earth, I have to act accordingly to The Good Book. I can't walk up to the throne and say, "Hey, God! I think you made a mistake in this here book of Yours. In the New Testament in Revelation 21:8, You had said that (unrepentant) liars will have their place in the lake of fire. Well, see God, that caused me great sadness, so what I did was is that I whited that part out and said that liars will have their place in the eternal paradise of heaven. So since you claim you love me and all, what's it going to be Father?" I can tell you here and now, that won't move Him.

Ignoring the truth and rebelling against the truth in no way changes the truth and certainly in no way changes the consequences of not acting accordingly to the truth.

    2 Peter 2

"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet. These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire."

wow well thought out and deep.  I can respect the view and the disclaimer that's an important thing in my opinion.

  • bwebbjr

God does not need ordination nor religion to speak through you ... He only wants your heart and your trust or faith in Him ... give HIm those, and much like Timothy, He will speak thru your youth.  Be very wary of religion ... the message Jesus taught thru the Pharisees is that religion can lead you astray ... and Paul, as a Pharisee, pretty much confirmed that in his testimony.

Abide IN Christ Jesus, His words and His love and you will find the Father, Son and Holy Spirit dwelling within ... and Who is then better equipped to preach and to teach.

I want to leave a long comment, but i'll pass. What I will say is that while your post is somewhat enlightening, it is also a tad judgemetal in my point of view. everyone is entitled to their own opinion and how they choose to read into what the Bible discusses. I think that like you, people will take from the Bible what they will, however, it's no one person's place to tell someone how they should interpret it. this isn't meant to do any harm, just another blogger's reaction to your post.

  • ISpeakLife

@OnlyAshley86 - That's okay that you feel the way you feel. I appreciate that you are not being disrespectful in your opinion. :)

  • nhoust2

It's sad that you have to put up a disclaimer on your xanga.
Everyone on xanga has a voice and should be able to use it as they see fit without having to be criticized (unless it's invited).

  • ISpeakLife

@nhoust2 - I put a disclaimer AND a caution warning on one of my more controversial notes, and a girl still said to me, "I guess I don't understand why Jesus would die for a nigger b**** like you." That's sad that freedom of speech is not extended to Xanga. People are very sensitive. They'll lose the whole point of the message over one offense. So sensitive.

  • nhoust2

@ISpeakLife - I would have reported the person that put that up.

"You tell your parents and your
fraternity brothers that Dr. Schultz is a total idiotic scumbag. Then
you say, "That's why I hate all Christians. All Christians are bad
people. If that's the kind of way their God teaches them to treat
people, then I want no part of Him!"

That's amusing... If that's your critique on the motives of non-believers, I'm disappointed...

  • ISpeakLife

@Lisa_x09 - If that's all you got from this entire post I'M disappointed in YOU. lol That was just a small example that I knew all college students could relate to.

  • Lisa_x09

@ISpeakLife - I agreed with the rest of it... I still stand by my statement that absolute truth doesn't matter in all cases. For example, no, you cannot change history, objectivey speaking. Jesus really did exist. Hypothetically, even if he was not the son of God, if archeologists found his bones and proved he was a mere mortal, many Christians would still believe in Jesus being the son of God. (Which I got from a revelife post)

Many people don't care for truth when it comes to religion. They will stand by their faith because it gives them comfort to believe there is a higher power.

  • WolverinesTrack

I don't care what anyone says, you just spoke life and continue to do so!

  • WolverinesTrack

And if you don't mind, I'm going to have to borrow your line on ignoring the truth, last couple lines in orange lol...

  • ISpeakLife

@WolverinesTrack - thanks a lot, and please take that line w/ u! lol

  • ISpeakLife

@Lisa_x09 - When you say that there is no absolute truth, is that absolutely true? Kind of confusing...

  • Lisa_x09

@ISpeakLife - I never said there was no absolute truth. I said, to most people, it doesn't matter.

  • ISpeakLife

@Lisa_x09 - yes it does matter. u read the post about how i said everyone wants the absolute truth when it comes to medical surgery, their paycheck, and road signs (just to name a few) so if it matters in temporary daily stuff, they definitely care for the eternal stuff. they just don't want to admit it.

  • Lisa_x09

@ISpeakLife - Would you still believe in a higher power if scientists proved without a doubt that there is no God?
